Ed: We're speaking with Thomas Pecora, intuitive astrological consultant and host of The Thomas Pecora Show on WJKL, Fox Radio. Thomas, can you explain what it is that you do as an intuitive astrologer? Thomas: Although I know traditional astrology, I am primarily what is known as a psychological astrologer. I use the Jungian archetypes when I interpret planetary meaning. It is a very new form of astrology, it's only about 20 or 25 years old. In addition to that, I'm what's called a functioning intuitive. We're all intuitive, the difference with a functioning intuitive is that their ability to access their intuition is close enough to the surface of their conscious thinking that it becomes useful in everyday life. This is something you're born with, the astrology I've done since my early teens. Ed: So you believe that you were born with intuitive ability. Thomas: Well, it's not that I believe it, it's been there from the beginning. You could say it's my natural world. It became obvious at a very early age. Ed: Is this something that's developed with time or has it always been the same? Thomas: My understanding is that intuitives develop. We now have the emergence of some scientific evidence because of the recent discoveries in cutting-edge physics and the practical testing of researchers like Dr. Edgar Mitchell and Dr. William A. Tiller. According to their studies, intuitives actually grow in strength as time goes forward, especially if they actively use their intuitive ability. The more it is accessed, evidence has shown that certain neural pathways actually strengthen and become more developed as time goes forward. This can also be applied to actually training individuals to make that jump from the standard everyday "hunch" type intuition into the expanded world of conscious functioning intuition. This is the only endeavor of study that once a person learns, in depth, the material, they then must become that material. Ed: When did you start doing consultations? Thomas: A consultation is whenever people come to you for some sort of advice and you give it to them. That's been going on since grammar school, but if you're asking when I went public, it was after I got my astrological knowledge together. Ed: What was the reaction you would get when you gave advice to people in grammar school, or to your neighbors or family? Thomas: Well, I never was "reading" in the obvious sense, but in my particular case, I learned very early and very quickly that it was best to make suggestions as opposed to coming forward with actual information. Grade school and high school, of course, had certain difficulties, because at that age it was very important to fit in with your peers. This particular type of ability creates the opposite of that. So I was at a point where fitting in with my peers seemed important. I later learned that my peers are everyone and no one all at the same time, and I don't mean that egotistically, but I learned that there was another voice to be answered to. Ed: And you would say that voice is that of the Creator? Thomas: It is a higher voice. Intuitives "hear" the actual root information of what people communicate, as well as the unique energy languages of nature, circumstances, environments, the future, etc. Also, there is no Time/Space as we experience it here. Einstein said that all Time exists at the same Time, and I can vouch for that because that's how I experience it. The energies are existing in and travel via what Professor William A. Tiller, the former Head of the Physics Department at Stanford, refers to as reciprocal space. All of this is very articulately outlined in his book: Science and Human Transformation. In any event, it is very important to learn how to use filters, so that we know when to step forward and when to stand back. Standing back and knowing when to remain silent is probably one of the most important things someone in my position must practice. There is always the major underlying issue of an individual's Free Will and therefore the element of non-interference. The future is not etched in stone. If you change your thinking you change your future. This is vital. Ed: What made you decide to start the radio show? Thomas: Well, I had been doing this for a long time. Like I had just mentioned, information can sort of tug at us, and I've always been, in one degree or another, in the public eye. So, I was being tugged on very heavily about radio and a client came in and mentioned that a good friend of theirs was leaving WCBR and I heard that, and the next week I was on the air with my own program. Ed: And when was that? Thomas: Sometimes people ask me when I was born, and so many people know me only through the radio, so I tell them that I was born on June 3, 1996 at exactly 7 PM Central Daylight Time in Arlington Heights, Illinois, because that's the moment they flipped the switch on the program for the first time. Ed: How has the program evolved since then? Thomas: Like a lot of public careers, the listeners shape, through their feedback, a lot of what the program is about. That doesn't mean that the program is strictly about what people want, that obviously wouldn't work. In three and a half years, I've learned what works and what doesn't. I also know the listeners well enough now as a "group energy" that I know how to present those things that interests everybody as well as myself. There are certain content parameters in regards to guests. There were only one or two guests in the first six months who would not necessarily appear on the program today. As far as the callers, I have no control over that. Ed: Where do you see your career going in the future? Thomas: That's hard to say because these things are in the hands of something far greater than ourselves. That doesn't mean I don't have a vision: I would say the keyword is expansion. We're looking to bring this to a wider audience on all levels. If I hold the intention of doing my best work at any given moment, then I think the expansion will be natural. Ed: Do you have a message you would like to share with the people who will read this interview, both your listeners and those hearing of you for the first time? Thomas: As far as a message is concerned, I suppose all of us have a message. I don't consider myself a messenger in particular, but if there was something I would say at this time, it is that it is obvious that we are leaving one cycle and entering another. We are in the in-between time for the new cycle. The message, or whatever you want to call it, is that the coming cycle is one in which people, as individuals, everywhere, will have more say in what their future will be. This is a very good thing, but it carries one problem: people who are accustomed to not having a lot of say may not know what to say when suddenly free to do so. So the message is: look within yourself in an honest way. Do whatever you can in your own unique way or your own tradition to access the very highest part of yourself and then go silent, and listen for what is there. You might be surprised to find your True Voice, that tells you not only how to make a better future for yourself, but by default, how that future would make a better world for everybody. The planet is shrinking, we know that. The world is very fast becoming ours now, so let's get it right, and that's up to each person individually. I would like to end with a quote by Mahatma Gandhi that has been heard a lot lately: "We must BE the change we wish to see". In a nutshell, that pretty much says it all. If we start with our primary relationship, the one we have with ourselves, if everyone would do just a little of that, you would see people getting along with people, groups getting along with groups, nations with nations, etc., and I'm fairly certain that's what the Mahatma meant. If you want to see a world that works and relates well with itself, it always begins with how you relate to yourself. We must BE the change we wish to see. At least in the current cycle, this is an excellent place to start. We did this last year at this time, and I want to thank you again for the opportunity to be heard. I also want to say to everybody who may be reading this that the phrase, "the world is what you make it", isn't just a phrase, it's real, as now in the Aquarian Cycle we go forward together as one family, one people, one world. Once again, thank you very much. |
